Indian Pugwash Society
The Indian Pugwash Society was established in August 1967 to promote the study of peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology especially nuclear energy, nuclear defence, security and safety, nuclear proliferation challenges, nuclear arms control and disarmament and problems relating to science and world affairs.
The Society is registered under the Societies Registration Act. III of 1860 (Punjab Amendment) Act 1957, as extended to the Union Territory of Delhi and is governed by the Convenor of Indian Pugwash Society (Director General - Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses) and an Executive Committee elected by the Society member. The Society receives an Annual Grant from the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India for carrying out its activities.

Pugwash seeks a world free of nuclear weapons in-order to increase security and promote policy development that is cooperative and forward-looking.
The Objectives of the Indian Pugwash Society
To promote the study of problems relating to science and world affairs.
To organize talks, panel discussions, debates, lectures and other events on aspects of nuclear, space and technology issues

To undertake research studies, discussions on peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology especially nuclear energy, nuclear defence, security and safety, nuclear proliferation challenges, nuclear arms control and disarmament.

To publish, exhibit books, periodicals, newsletters, pamphlets that may be considered desirable for promotion of problems relating to science and world affairs.

To amalgamate with any other society, Institution, Association, Trust or Foundation having similar objectives with the Indian Pugwash Society.

To promote the study and the research on proliferation of WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction)
